Default Can't start Return of the phantom

I tried to run "Return of the phantom" under Dosbox 0.73 but I always get the following message:

Error "-32" in module "5" data: 0 0

Most recent memory check: 463616
Most recent DOS error: 2
Stack use indicator: 10083

I also tried to disable the ems, but this changed nothing.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Did you try with a lower version of DOSBox?

Sometimes changes made between versions prevent some specific games from working right.

A lower version? No, I thought the later the version the better. I also tried it with Scummvm, but no luck.

Any ideas?

That isn't always true.

Try running it with an older DOSBox version and see if anything changes.

Try changing the value of the core setting in dosbox.conf to normal. The default auto value uses dynamic core when you run a more resource-demanding game which, while giving a performance boost, can result in some games becoming unstable or unrunnable.

Today I tried it with the version 0.63 instead, but the exact same error message came again...
How do I get into Dosbox.cfg, so that I can try adjusting the core settings as you said?

A link to it is under the DOSBox item in the Start menu.

Been there, done that - and still the same trouble!
I guess it ain't meant to be. Too bad, this really looked like a good game...

But thanks for the help anyways!

Hey Punisher

You downloaded a zip file called Return Of The Phantom.

When you unzipped it, there is another folder inside, also called Return Of The Phantom.

Drag this second folder (the whole folder) onto DosBox icon.

Now type 'cd phantom' to enter the Phantom folder.

Now just type in 'Phantom'.

Let me know if that helps.

What do you mean? The directory where the game is?
It looks like that:

G:\Spiele\Dosgames\Rotp\Return Of The Phantom\PHANTOM

the last folder is the one where the "phantom.bat" file is.
