Just found this site today and what can I say but wow..
Hubby decided to make use of our second computer today and install Lemmings (from the original 3 1/2" disc). No prize for guessing it wouldn't play. He then sent me on a mission to find a way to make it work. So after searching I found dosbox and while we couldn't get Lemmings to work, we got Oh NO More Lemmings to work only to find it asked for a code from the manual (I had forgotton about that) then came the search for the book which it seems has got up and left our computer bookshelf (along with all the Lemmings books it would appear)
Not one to give up easily, I embarked on another quest. I didn't really think I'd find a copy of the book, but hey, I had to try and instead I found something better, I found Abandonia :w00t:
So I have downloaded Oh No More Lemmings and have it working great (well I would like a bigger play area) on the other computer and now I have been looking through the list of games. .... So many that I still have the old discs for but haven't been able to play for so long... Monkey Island!!!!!, Discworld, Curse of Enchantia, Police Quest, Future Wars and lots of others.
I'm off now to dig out the discs and try them with dosbox, but I have a feeling I'll be back here to remember the old games again.
THANK YOU

Some games you will not be able to download here. The ESA came through and demanded we remove the downloads for several of people's favorate games like Monkey Island. But if you have the original disks you may be able to figure out how to make DOSBox run them.

Enjoy!

Please allow me: Welcome to Abandonia, fellow Abandon-head

Slightly off-topic: For playing those oldies like Monkey Island 1-2 on modern systems, ScummVM was created. It will not respond to all games, basically it's an all LucasArts-point'n'click-thing. k:

thanks for the welcome.
mmm I found the alt enter trick (so much better now)
yes, I saw that a few games are protected, but yes I do have the original discs.. even found the dial-pirate wheel for Monkey Island. Actually I hate giving up the old games - I even have the original disc for my favourite game for the C64.
Thanks too for the info on ScummVM, I'll have to check it out because I'm sure my kids would love to play Monkey Island (me too for that matter LOL)

A good place to look for Manuals is www.replacementdocs.com. They have a database of most old game manuals in PDF format.
