Is this program going to mess up my windows XP? does it run separately, like as a program, or does it become part of my windows? so confused...

Have you used an emulator of any kind? DOSBox is an emulator for DOS.

The short version is, it's a program that runs seperately. No threat to your prescious operating system.

Yes, it is exactly as gesst said... I just would like to add that it will open a window (well, as a mather a fact it opens three* two of them are somesort of "background" windows, don't worry about them) where you'll enter commands like in DOS... at the end you can close them like any other window.

If you don't know how to use DOSBox, read it's tutorial here, or take a look at this topic

EDIT* Hum, as a matter a fact, it only opens two :tai: (I was about to swear they were three but, hey, the true is that I always open it in "fullscreen" )
Thank you Data, for calling that to my attention - and sorry if I misinformed you guys/girls

DosBox runs separately. No integration with your OS occurs.
