Relating to the Magic: The Gathering thread and the download problems: which download manager can you recommend or which ones do you definitely NOT recommend? (I use Firefox as browser.)

Thanks for help

Don't know how well it integrates with firefox, but i recommend Reget. But why do you need one?
As i understand it firefox has a built-in "download manager"(ie you can pause your downloads).A real download manager would only help you in the sense that it provides the "simultaneous connections" feature, which can greatly diminish the waiting time, but doesn't work with the Hotu server

I use Free Download Manager, but only when I need to download multiple archives from the same page (option - download all). My settings are set to only one connection and only one download at the time.

Well, the FireFox download manager lets you pause and resume downloads, or retry if download is cancelled.
However, if a download is broken for some reason (as in the case with Magic:The Gathering from the HOTU page for me), all data downloaded so far is lost. So I always have to start the download from scratch, and it always breaks after like half of the download.
I also have the FlashGot plug-in for Firefox, which requires an external download manager.
(The built-in download manager is one of the few things which most firefox users are not happy with, even the most hardcore fans...)

I like using Getright nice one, no spyware or adaware installed, you get the occasional reminder screen to buy but it goes away and it doesn't bother you, hasn't let me down.

I would not recommend DAP. Have had problems with it. Slows down downloading by downing advertisements while you're downing your files. I've also heard it's spyware.

I wouldn't recommend DAP either I used to use it before I knew about spyware and adaware, the earlier versions 5x were actually decent, it had ads but it didn't bother you when you download

The latest versions are terrible I still remember every time I went to download I would get at least a couple of popups, it freaked me out and annoyed the heck out of me, uninstalling is a pain too there were so many left over registry entries it wasn't even funny.

i use flashget (cracked) im not going to direct you to a crack before you ask (as its not within the rules here)
i do think you should get it though (especially as the flashgot extention was originally inteded for use with flashget)

And don't forget that this site doesn't support download managers either.

Back when I was on dialup, I briefly used Getright for some big downloads that I didn't want to break in the middle, and it satisfied me completely. I haven't found the need to have a download manager ever since I switched to cable.
