Saboteur II
I recall playing a game during my teen years in the early 90’s on a souped-up x286. I can’t recall the name and can’t find it anywhere on the ‘Net.
I recall the following about the game. It is very much 1D, sidescroll, with a lot of red and black, some green, graphics (so I assume CGA). Movements were left, right, up/jump(?), down/crouch, hit/throw, kick. Role-play: You are a (Ninja) fighter entering with a hang glider. You have to pass a number of screens, and dismounting not too soon or too late or fall to an imminent death. You drop a number of screens before landing on top of a building. In this building, it is possible that there were two buildings, you engage any of the following: ‘guards’/fighters, panthers, and bats (underground). I recall the following weapons you will find – pardon the incorrect terminology – stars en daggers in boxes. In the game you have to fight, kill, collect, flip switches, and climb up and down a million staircases that form a maze through the building. Health level is restored while running. To complete the game, you have to survive, switch off an electric fence and exit on a motorbike through the fence. Object of the game, I can’t remember and for a 9th grader it didn’t matter. Can anyone guide me to the fortunes of finding this game of finite pleasure ? |

Can't help wondering, a '1D' game looks like ......?

Shweet!
FIFTH HORSEMAN:
Super! Thanks a million. In fact the one I recalled was the DOS follow-up, Saboteur II. Upon further investigation Saboteur itself was an even earlier ZX Spectrum 48K version - I will have to figure out how the emulator works. DOSRAIDER: 2D, super imposed 1D. Still just a cool game, love playing it. |

For the spectrum emus take a look there: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/ I kinda like the Spectrum. ......And don't forget to give the 'remakes' sub a look, some saboteur remakes are listed.

choose either a dot or a line. Maybe the ninja is a dot and the panthers, bats, etc are small lines and they all interact on the same axis. looks like fun
