rampart is a real arcade classic and therefore a challenge for unexperienced gamers. that's the aim behind every arcade game. you have to spend some money before you get the right ways and tactics. just practise, it'll help.
you cannot imagine how much money i spent playing this game. haven't played the single player very often, however. the multi player is much more fun.
a small hint: try to shoot single blocks out of your opponent's walls. they are harder to repair than big gaps. in single player be sure not to let too many ships near your coast. they will start unloading these small cannons, which block your walls. so you have to build around them. the black ships in later stages should be targeted first, as they have incredible firepower and usually aim better than their "normal" counterparts.
