It seems that the "rar" linux binaries support SFX compression. It allows you to use the -sfx switch to "create SFX archive" though after checking the rar website on the formats they support
http://www.rarsoft.com/otherfmt.htm, SFX is not mentioned.. unless it is under a different name.
Though using the -sfx switch, you need to register the rar linux binary, as it is only shareware
