Flashback has already been explained in the Abandonia Games Discussion thread. It's compressed using a powerful variant of ZIP compression, but one undreadable by Windows XP. So go, get 7Zip or Total Commander, they read this format without any trouble.
As for THGTG, dunno. Tried rnning it from DosBox?
