I suspect there are more people speaking Hungarian than Esperanto, today. Esperanto was a noble if bizarre ideal--that somehow, if everybody spoke the same language, they'd communicate better. Yet as any divorced couple shows, speaking the same language doesn't mean ironing out a single problem.
