You don't have to kill something to get experience, in Den, there are several quests,

two are for Becky at becky's bar(west side), one for Lara(west side), one for Mom(east side), you can kill those 3 drug dealers(west side) to have a heart shaped locket, give it to a ghost in the damaged house(west side, ghost is present at night), the ghost will drop bones, which u can bury on a graveyard(east side), note that you need to have shovel and you must place the bones into graveyard with the right name on the gravestone( it's the second grave from the right in the bottom line)
There's another quest in residental area(south)EDIT: the last quest is available only in killap's patch.
