No, I don't think there are any dos patches for the game. There are three patches for the windows version, and these are for specific problems which I don't have issues with.
I can't think of anything else, except I discovered this forum post which is the exact same issue as mine. It says that changing dosbox settings can fix the issue, although it doesn't say WHICH settings need to be changed.
