The sylandro probes act as the games random monster encounters all over. And they aren't that hard to beat, just be sure to *spoiler block on (highlight to read)*
stop by pluto, little purple planet on the eastern end of the furthest out orbital, *spoiler* to get your silver bullet and you can just about beat anything that comes along with a little practice (and a few reloads)
