I honestly haven't any clue as to what my favorite rpg would be. I've been gaming for years and there have been a number of great games along the way. In recent years I've most enjoyed Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale although I've slowed down and haven't played as many rpgs lately due to time restrictions.
I'm really surprised noone has mentioned the System Shock games at all. Those are pretty fine rpgs.
