Only now it is cheaper to let another country do the tinkering, and with how many hours a week those kids go to school over there...


Laser development is still way into the drawing board stage, and big lasers won't be able to protect US cities from ICBMs or Ballistics from space for a long time to come. I think it is more likely we will develop a lightning gun before we successfully perfect a laser weapon.
