Discworld
|
This one, like DW2, is unavailable. Anyone got a copy?
|
I'll check my version and if found all OK = upload.
|
Was it not removed because it was sold on www.gog.com ?
|
i don't if and why it was removed, but the game isn't sold on gog.com
|
The Cellar topics for any games on GOG.com were removed from the Cellar completely.
So it's not that. |
Here's a new link including a patch to version 1.04:

sorry for double post, but add this into mirrors
http://www.4shared.com/dir/33005980/...discworld.html it has 1.04 patch too |
now sorry for TRIPPLE post but why the hell did you put 215 MB?!
when you click on the link it says 176,502 KB, which is 172 MB |
Ok so.. now i downloaded this version:
4shared [ISO] [176 MB] + Patch 1.04 mounted the iso and then...? what to do now? how to install and get the game working?? |
|
well then it behaves like normal cd in dos. so you change letter to drive where you mounted it, dir excutables, install it... of course don't forget to mount some hard drive too
|
whooops, im sorry.. it seems there was an error when first extracting the iso and so when installing it it could not get all data an didn't work..
my bad, or 7zip's bad to be precise... i'm sorry |
Ummm...
I now have two questions; (1) DOES the Abandonia version run w/sound? I can get it to run via DosBox, but not with sound. (2) How do you apply the patch to the .iso version? It won't run and I've now burnt it to two different CDs, so I'm thinking I probably need the patch to get it to work, but I don't know how to apply the patch to a burnt CD!...
Thanx for your assistance. |
2: need more info.
OS? Mount lines? Did you install the game IN dosbox? Did you use imgmount to mount the ISOs directly in dosbox? (BTW: No need to burn the CDs ....) And: did you at least take a look at the tutorials ...? I don't think so. |
Well, I just burnt the .iso to a CD (that's what I thought I was supposed to do) and I am now able to get it to run direct from the CD, so it DOES play, no DosBox necessary. But I still don't have sound and that was the whole reason I downloaded the .iso! I ran disc.bat and THOUGHT I'd configured it for Soundblaster, but there's no sound whatsoever and I can't get it to ask for my settings again! Do I need to copy the files onto the computer and run it using DosBox? And when I DO use DosBox, I use the drag and drop method; I HAVE read all the tutorials on how to use it via the commands and it's like another language, no matter how many times I read it.
And my computer is Win XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3. I'm guessing it comes with Soundblaster Pro? |
You need to mount:
1)A virtual C 2)the CD as D in dosbox (or mount the ISO with imgmount as D , highly recommended) Then install the game from D on C in dosbox The game must be launched from C Again, read the tutos PLEASE. http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/forumdisplay.php?f=90 [Edit] Quote:

OK, will do. I just didn't know it HAD to use DosBox, as I've burnt and run a lot of .iso's as if they were store-bought CDs and assumed this was the same. *sigh* Guess there's a LOT I just don't know...but WILL learn. Thanx a lot. :OK:

To update game (after it's installed of course!)
Extract the 2 files from the update -> DISC104.EXE -> UPDATE.BAT In the dir where discworld is installed, if you accepted the install dir it will be in your virtual C folder named \DISCWLD.CD\ Run dosbox, get in the \discwld.cd\ dir, and input: update c: This will update the game, it will also launch soundset again, simply use autodetect for sound and music, works fine. BTW, after the update you'll need to start a 'new' game. Old savegames aren't compatible with the updated game. |
Discworld (1 and 2) is also supported by ScummVM natively in Linux, Windows and Mac.
http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility/ Much easier to use than DosBox, as it acts as the game interpreter and uses all the game files without any configuration. |
Thanks.

It looks to me like the 4Shared files in this thread might not work. I've tried unpacking and decoding them on both a Windows 10 and Windows 7 computer. But, whenever the ISO is created, I always get a "Corrupted File" error when opening it. I'm unpacking them in this order:
*.rar, *.r0, *.r1, *.r2. So I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's a modern Windows compatibility issue. Any ideas? |
*.rar, *.r0, *.r1, *.r2 => split rar archive
Do you have all the files in the same folder? The *.rar file is the only file you should extract, the other files are automatically included in the process. Also, what program did you use to extract? 7-Zip is a good choice... |
I figured out what I was doing wrong. Apparently, Windows’ built in ISO utility wasn’t recognizing the raw img file I built. So I used ISOBuster to convert it into an iso, and then I was able to burn it to a CD. :)
