Last night installed SNES GameBase, so it was interesting to set both emus and everything. |

WildZeppelin | i admit to being tone-deaf when it comes to tuning my guitar, but I know a sound difference when it's more than just a few octaves. Play castlevania 4 on a regular ol' snes on a regular ol' tv. When you've done that, start up znes and listen to the thunder right in the opening. Very audibly different. It's so poor sounding on the emulator in comparison with a standard tele..., and I can't figure out why. Even contra 3 seems to be a poor port since every version I've tried has horrible sound and picture. Maybe that's what it really is....i can't be sure.

zelda on zsnes sounds like i remember the real one sounding, back in the days. i gathered that the gaussian filter on zsnes is the only way to get the sound right in ff 6 (aka ff3) |

WildZeppelin | not sure I follow you xoopx. When I do get the sync-sound to work for the short time it will in snes9x, it sounds incredibly like the original game, regardless of what speakers. I've used znes and snes9x on a soundblaster awe32 w/altec lansing AC495s my last computer, and now my on-board abit ic7-g 6 channel 5.1 dolby surround w/cyber acoustics 5.1 120 watt speakers. Can't say I hear much of a difference. But I can hear a definate difference when sync-sound is not enabled, or when it is in comparison to any of the options in znes. As a matter of fact, the znes's options no matter what order don't seem to result in an audible difference if my hearing is decent. This has been my experience, so I dunno...

gaussian interpolation lo pass filter - high quality bear in mind its hard for it to sound like you remember, when the original snes was probably playing through a tv instead of p.c speakers |

WildZeppelin | none of the sound options in znes have yeilded that 'true to the original' sound other than snes9x... Believe me, I'm not endorsing it, but I'd like to get that fixed if I could. There's really only one video part that kills my system for some reason, and it's on the rotating rooms in the Castlevania IV game as well.
