if it still don't work you could also try playing with the compatibility tab and force the game to run on 256 colors.
And optionally also "run in 640x480".

Eagle of Fire Before DOSBox, you might also try to switch your resolution to 800x600 before starting the game, and if it still don't work you could also try playing with the compatibility tab and force the game to run on 256 colors.

Chris Even if it is not from here, it's a great game and belongs to one of Abandonias most favourite series.

I can not help you with your particular problem, but would recommend that you use DOSBox. I am playing Apocalypse through it without any problems.

If you need help getting started, take a look at our Beginner's Guide to DOSBox.

X-com Apocalypse – Distorted colours in XP

I have read so many different threads and have finally got all things to work with this game, almost. Since I still have the original game I used it. So technically it's wrong that I use this forum to get help since I did not use you to get this particular game.
I'm using VDMS and after alot of work I got to the point when the game load and even intro run smooth but... when the main screen load the colours are just totally messed up. Instead of the red, yellow and blue it's mainly purple and black. My guess it that the graphics settings are wrong some how, still think it's very strange that the intro work.

To get this far anyway, I'm running the patch with:
intro.bat
xcom3.bat
xcom3_cd.com
fakecd.exe
With this files I was able to correct the problem with the buffers that was the main problem before. There might be a better way to deal with my problems but I don't have the skill to deal with it myself.

I'm also running mouse2kv.exe to adjust the speed of the mouse.

I don't know if I've provided enough info so that some can help me play this old favorite.
