Now, if you're serious about learning editing autoexec.bat and config.sys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONFIG.SYS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AUTOEXEC.BAT Keep in mind that config.sys and autoexec.bat are related, but not the same. Some devices can only be loaded in config.sys, some others can be loaded in both. Autoexec.bat is a batch file, and thus can process all the dos commands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DOS_commands http://home.att.net/~gobruen/progs/d...dos_batch.html http://home7.inet.tele.dk/batfiles/batfiles.htm |

Scatty | This one lists all such sites, including bootdisc.com, should you not find what you search at bootdisc.com alone

That your XP is running in FAT32 or NTFS doesn't change a thing. The bootflop you make in XP is the same whatever your HD file system is. And try once to make a bootdisk in W98, you don't need the CD for that. Mouse and CD drivers must be added manually. But as said: W98 can restart in dosmode. *Edit QUOTE(tomf @ Oct 2 2007, 05:41 AM) Quote:
*Edit Take once a look @ bootdisk.com should you need a good bootdisk, you can find almost everything there, in all flavors. Look in the "DOS/Windows9X/Me/NT/2K/XP Excellent Bootdisks" section. The "Windows 98 SE Custom, No Ramdrive" is pretty good and fully customisable. |

tomf | Just to clear some things up my XP is running FAT32 and I couldn't make a 98 disk one as it needs my 98 cd that I lost but if other things work better then that's fine by me and thanks for the quick replies

Dear scatty, I never wrote you can get a NTFS formated floppy. (It would even be pretty ridicule, you won't leave much usuable space) What I said is that you can get a dos bootflop that can read/write NTFS. (As used in many sys applics -recovery-maintenance progs- partitioners-whatever) He is talking about a sysformated bootflop made in XP to use in his W98 PC. So lets end this mixup shall we? |
