although for now i haven't run anything that would need special settings, only a couple games run just a little bit too fast i believe.

This allows you to configure everything and BESIDES since 0.70 you can specify several config files. So even for the configured games you can specifiy the default config and then another one that will have preference of the things it doesn't agree with the default, but will leave the default settings when it doesn't specify other itself. So when you start using a new version you don't have to change every single custom conf file, just the default one.

2. can i set the cycles in command line? i am running all games by making a shortcut to dosbox and giving it propper commands in the shortcut. i have mayn shortcuts and i made it so, that the person using the ocmputer doesn't need to give any commands (double click on shortcut will do).

Data 1)
yes, for real mode games the auto = 3000 cycles and the values in the configfile are used when you increase or decrease it.
for pmode games it goes with 5 % at the time (of the full load)

2)
yes,
dosbox c:\thisgame\game.exe -c "cycles=101"

gregor I have DOSBox cycles set on

cycles=auto

Most games run OK with this and i have it so that person who runs the game wouldn't have to do any setting up.

Now what i am interested is:

1. if i increase & decrease the cycles under such config does it work at all? do i need to set up some values (i.e. will they decrease per 1000 or per 500 cycles etc.)?

2. can i set the cycles in command line? i am running all games by making a shortcut to dosbox and giving it propper commands in the shortcut. i have mayn shortcuts and i made it so, that the person using the ocmputer doesn't need to give any commands (double click on shortcut will do).
