start dosbox mount a [x:\path here where\your simearth\install files are\located] ex. my line would look like this -> mount a c:\games\old\tmp a: install.exe [DONT run the setup.bat] select drive A: [where you are installing from] select drive C: [where you are installing to] after this you can select screen resolutions and sound devices you like the most. select preferred language you can check the setup once more before programs copies the files. press SPACE after copying is done. once installation is complete, go to your new simearth folder and run simearth.exe. Enjoy. I assume reader has allready mounted hes/hers game directory to c: or similiar, so the final path might look somethign like this -> c:\simearth. edit. For some reason i didnt realize i replied to a post from page 9. Oh well, if someone still has this problem, this might help them |

TGLS | You want to win the Mars scenario? OK. First stick down a few CO2 generators and then hit the planet with a few ice comets. Then, provided the ice caps are not to massive, place down a few biome factories. When there are a few stable biome zones, place down a few information age cities, and max agriculture and drop science to zero. Then just wait for requirements to be passed and you win.

The Fifth Horseman | You should run this game in DOSBox. It was never meant for modern Windows versions.

That's great, but let's adress two things you should know. First, DOSBox should be installed into its' own directory. There's no adverse results keeping it where you put it, but it can get annoying later on when you want to play other games using it. Second, don't mount the game directory as your C drive - instead mount its' parent directory. In this case, rather than mount c c:\games\simearth use mount c c:\games . Again, it's a matter of long-term practicality (when you automate the mounting by placing the commands into the DOSBox config file) over immediate convenience. Finally, you can also automate the mounting of directories and switching to the C drive by editing the DOSBox options file and putting these commands at the end. Whatever's placed there is automatically ran when DOSBox starts. |
