Eagle of Fire | You might be right. How could one mistake downloading and installing, however, is still way out of my mental reach.

The Fifth Horseman | Or he's trying to convey that the game itself doesn't work on Vista, and is mistakenly attributing that to a problem during download. We've seen that before.

Applying the 1.04.2 patch (downloadable in various places, do some googling) seems to disable the copy protection. And it adds H for Hail and C for converse shortcut keys. Very practical. |

Well, I have one hint for you people. DISREGARD the scoutship. It's way too small. It'll kill your trading dreams faster than a electric light on a fly. The costs pay back quickly if you get lucky in a game of rob the robber, while piloting a far trader. |

Ha. I could never understand what I was doing (or supposed to be doing) in the game. Creating characters, mixing them into groups and then exploring alone was actually really fun. I think that I have only ever completed the sidequests... And that makes me want to play the main quest, just to see what the game's story is really about. Actually, it kind of reminds me of a really "early" Fallout. |

Official Hintbook anyone? Hey all. When this game came out, i saved up my allowance for weeks to get the hintbook that is offered for sale after dropping back to DOS. They were sold out of the books, so they sent me copy-machine quality images of the real thing instead. They did however have plenty of maps, so i actually received the real 4-color map. I can't seem to find the map, which is frustrating. However, if anyone is interested in the book's content, i'll find some way of uploading it here. As far as hintbooks go, it's not the best i've seen. It does list pretty much everything in the game, where to get it, and what to do with it. Another great feature is that it explains all the skills, and EXACTLY what they do in the game. Helps a lot when making that "perfect team" that can accomplish anything you'll come across. Also explains how to make characters that will start with lots of money, a ship, TAS membership, large pensions, etc. It does list: -all the main quests -all the subquests -all bounties -all items and locations -exactly how to get the ancient ship (4-jump ship, infinite fuel!!) -quick ways to make money in the game (not just at char-gen) It does not list: -cargo prices on planets (this one really annoys me) -weapon stats, armor stats Basically the book tells you the info, and you have to figure out how to do it. Not a bad thing really, but can be confusing at times. Also, why they don't include more planet info is beyond me - that was what i really wanted when i bought the thing in the first place! PM me if interested. -uIX |

That's a shame, I for one could use the help. The review is spot on, I've never played the RPG but now I understand why the neighborhood gamers ate up every pen-and-paper supplement for it. Very detailed, though my own, character creations have been either dying on me during creation or washing out after one or two terms in their chosen fields ("I'm here to save your planet, but I never made it through college and I stow away on my rich canine friend's ship and mooch off his pension!" *fangirls swoon*). Edit: Okay, I found a few tips/tricks, but they're basically monetary ones, which are kind of dumb, considering the amount of effort to go through them. Tip 1, "Extra money": Quote:
