Also, if anyone else trying to figure this out rolls through here, you can put in some serious guesswork with the manual here...

I doubt I would need to explain it to anyone who's had the problem, but the copy protection codes on the site DO NOT have anything to do with the copy protection measures below.

There is absolutely no connection between the copy protection codes on the site and in the game. Sorry, but it's true and I'm sitting here trying to figure out which page these things are on.

Does anyone know where to find out about actually running this game?

you have to download the codes which are below the game. there you will find out which icon you want to click to play the game. once you click the right icon it will work normally.

You should click on the right event. There is a COPY PROTECTION file in the extras (back on the main site) that tells you what to click!
