El Quia Don't laugh at me, but I could never enter the caves :S. But, truth to be told, I never had much patience with this game, although I played lots of text adventures. It's just that this one didn't catch my interest.

Often quoted...

This is such a classic game it has often been referred to in various things. For example: In one of the Tom Clancy novels, 90% sure it is "Patriot Games" the main character of Jack Ryan mutters to himself "You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike."
Also in Windows (I think 95) there was some sort of easter egg involving typing Xyzzy several times.

Anyone else know of any other references made to this game in music, literature, art, or the wonderful world of computers? :-)

arielnh56 I played this around 1977 on a DEC PDP-11/60 at Edinburgh University - my big brother was interning on a research project. It was called ADVENT then, because that machine only had six character upper case filenames. Spent hours trying to map it out - that maze of little twisty passages that all look alike is half the map.

There was another machine there that had TREK on it. Much more advanced.

Plugh!

Mighty Midget No need to ask the same question twice <_<

LotR was first published in the mid 50's, so there you have your answer.
