Sebatianos Are you by any chance looking at the Oldwarez list??? Because that's not the list of the games that Abandonia has, that's an every growing list of games in which their status is determened. If a game is on Abandonia, the link points to it, otherwise to MobyGames as one of the biggest reference sites.

To see the list of reviewed games on Abandonia you should look under all games.

And no, the reviews of ESA protected games should not be taken down, after all Abandonia is not simply about giving people free games, it's about keeping the memories of great classics and Geezer put it very nicely earlier. As for the sold games - there really is no problem. If you really want a game, it shouldn't be a problem for you to buy it - after you read the review which should help you make up your mind - so in that case Abandonia acctually is providing the game as well (it's pointing you to the person selling it).

Abandonia doesn't show games unless it's got a review, and AFAIK doesn't add new games that aren't downloadable. Mobygames on the contrary is not a download site, just an extensive database, hence its usefulness. If you don't see what 'Horseman describes activate "View" > "Status Bar" or similar in your browser.

suppose so and yeah I can see the link I just sometimes forget to look, especially when I see that it is listed as abandoned

The Fifth Horseman The link target is displayed on the bottom bar of your browser when you move your mouse over it. Pay more attention to it.

jg007 I dunno if it's just me but although I don't mind the reviews and lists of non abandoned games I don't really like clicking on games and being sent to moby games I dunno if they are just games you have not reviewed yet or something but I don't really like the moby site and although some games are listed as abandoned I can't find any kind of download link on moby

(appologies if any of you have links with moby!, I just don't like the site

i appreciate the detailed reviews (and screenies) very much, too, but i don't really see the point in displaying more and more games one can't download[/b]
That's an oxymoron. Either you appreciate the reviews, or you want them removed.

There's nothing of that, on the contrary.

Anyway maybe you didn't notice that when games are listed a diskette icon means downloadable, an ESA logo icon ESA protected, and a $ icon on sale.

Dave mhhh...maybe you should try other sites...
Abandonia is a place where you can talk about old games and sometimes (if it's possible) download them...however the filter idea isn't so bad for people like you that don't want to see Esa protected games.
I'm not one of them

Reup Meh.. You can see the status of the game when you seach for it. If you ignore the ESA or $$$ icon and let yourself be disappointed, you're clearly an idiot. And the point of this site is NOT to give freeloaders a chance to get good games for free. It's aim is preservation. If the game is sold, you should get it through legal channels, which we encourage!

The Fifth Horseman As far as I know, such filtering will be made possible when the search engine is redone.

And no reviews for ESA'd and sold games are going to be removed till next glacial era in Hell.

TheChosen I once sented a suggestion to Horseman that we could add a "review only" text next to the names of those games which are ESA-protected.

EDIT: Yes, they didnt use the idea.
