Hi!

I'm looking for a game that I played on an 486-PC.
You play in the future in a high building somewere off-shore and you have to earn money. After a while you get more reputation and can move upsatirs since you live quite at the bottom in the beginning. The more you move upstairs the better is your job as well. First you deal with recycling or somthing.
After work you can go into bars and talk to people. And you have to watch out to get enough sleep.
The money you earn is measured in Rocks and Rockies for there's some connection to Rockefeller when you make your way thruogh the economy.
And it's a lot about environment, that's why I thought it was ecoquest.
The title screen was with dolphins I think.

[/b]No, that's not it, thanks Dave.
The view was first person and there was day and night time. So it might look more like an RPG than adventure-like. People were coming your way.
Your first job was like trash disposal the next one like a treadmill-job.

I wrote pretty much everything I remember in my first post. :(

First person view, earning money (Rocks and Rockies) with a job that get better and proceeding daytime.
Living in a tower offshore, having an appartment to get sleep mostly.

It was playable on a 486 macine with 66 or so MHz. And I don't think that game was german only.

I really wonder why nobody knows it.

Thanks for trying though! :)

EDIT: The first job you could get was something with algae, I think it was compressing them.

You won't have much luck looking for this game on an international forum cause it was a promotional title of the LBS (a german building and loan association for those not knowing).

Ok, enough talk now, the game you are looking for is

VISION (http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/game.php3?titel_id=20406&game_id=636)

I had lots of hours of fun with this game in the early 90s.
Did you know they also made a second part (VISION 2) settled in space?
Also a very nice game, very similiar to part one though.
Viel Spass! :)

I think you should. :)

I already have a source.

However the legality of a possible hosting has to be checked first!!! :)

Vision: The 5 Dimension Utopia (1992)

Developed by Ad Games
Published by Rainbow Arts (Status: Active, ESA member)

Rainbow Arts has ten years protection, and Ad Games company seems dead.
The games seems Abandonware but it's German only am I right?

Yes, internationally non-playable.

The version I knew was german only, but it didn't have the english subtitle "The 5 Dimension Utopia" and I'm fairly sure it was distributed by the LBS itself without Rainbow Arts being involved.
I think that's a good chance of an international (english) version to exist out there somewhere (the link I posted above also shows the box complete with english subtitle and Rainbow Arts logo).

The boxes at TheLegacy are from German versions. There is one PC box with (3) and one without (4) the Rainbow Arts logo. First they sold the game at the LBS branches of North Rhine-Westphalia, then they published it with Rainbow Arts for the regular German market. And it's a promotional game for public (German federal states) building societies. I'll try to ask an official, though.

Please excuse my editing spree.
Where did this second post come from? I have no merge permission at the subforums...

I have permission, me cool
There are still some problems with Mod powers :)

Edit:
I'll try to ask an official, though.
Ok, if there's an English version we will approve it.

Any news?

I tried this game once again and it lost some of its magic... :(
It's still quite cool but you have to be very aware of the daytime.
