Here are some of my creations all zipped up into one nice package. I shall go through and briefly introduce each one. Please keep in mind, these are MIDI format, so they do not sound as good as when played by an actual ensemble (especially the ones arranged for full band.)
Happy Song: This one I wrote a couple years ago. It's short, and makes me happy. Later on when I actually learned music theory, I went over it and discovered I actually used very good (if simple) theory when writing it. Yay me! Carnivale: This was inspired after I saw the Simpsons episode where they go to Brazil. It has a Faux-Latin feel to it, is arranged for a concert band, and would probably be about a grade 2 or 3 piece. It's very easy, has many unisons, but still has a kind of groove to it that is kinda cool. The beginning level band at my school might play it this year. Idea 3: This one has no name...My Band director was wanting me to write something for the bands, and this was the third idea I had. Actually, every song except for Happy Song was written for our schools bands (different levels of course...beginning, intermediate, advanced, etc.) I'm not quite sure what to think of it. It's not extremely bad, it's kinda cheesey and predictable. It has a recognizable melody, and is probably a grade 3 piece. Tell me what it makes you think of and help me name it. The Epic: This one starts at Lento tempo of 32 BPM in 2/4. It is very very slow, but I like opening choral. A little ways into it it changes to Presto (around 204 BPM) and is waaaaaaaaaaaay freaking fast. It goes through irregular meters (3/8, 7/8, etc.) and is just pretty flying. I haven't finished this one, and may never finish it. I ran out of ideas :bleh: I'll probably return to it sometime soon. I like what it's becoming though. Also arranged for a Concert Band/ Wind Ensemble, and is probably a grade 5-6 piece because of the uber-fast tounging. Andromeda: I picture astronauts walking towards a space shuttle to be the crew of the first manned trip to the Andromeda Galaxy. It's pretty triumphant, and I liked the name Andromeda k: It starts kinda slow, with really cool percussion sounds, but unfortunately they don't sound very cool on the MIDI. This piece is probably a grade 4. My band director told me it sounds like it could be a marching band piece. I like it. Also arranged for Concert Band The Sun: This last one is much more contemporary than the last. It has some very dissonant chord changes, and a lot of clusters. There's a section near the beginning I am not quite happy with yet, because it makes yours ears feels slightly uncomfortable, but it gets better as the song goes on, I promise. This is probably my favorite out of them all. It has a really beautiful Oboe solo and flute duet. I will probably add a warmed sounding chord near the end to add more substance. My wind ensemble will perform this for our Spring Concert in May. It's a grade 5 piece, although the oboe part could make it a 6. Please leave me comments, and enjoy! |

Very interesting, Reamus. I got a better happy song though. The beer song from tyrian 2000 is funnier, or Willful Lion from Terranigma. Much happier tunes there :bleh:
Good job k: |

I didn't listen to Carnivale. Don't like this genre of music. I liked Epic much. It might be a good compositiion for intro theme of some game. The Sun fits to be a level theme. I never heard such great themes since WarCraft, I think. Great job! k: k: k:
BTW, who are you? Are you professional musician? I wish I could do at least a little similar to that... EDIT: I forgot to say. I think it may be better to remove whistle from The Sun. I think it doesn't fit to idea of the song.
