Sorry but that makes absolutely no sense. But if you want to try running the Win32 build of DOSBox in Mac or Linux, be my guest.
I really don't know... The only reason why I can think right now that the mouse wouldn't work in DOSBox, is that it didn't work in Windows to begin with. Since that's not your case... You should start with trying a different game.

Yep, trying a different game would be the first thing to try. Any game that uses a mouse by default will be fine. If it works in that game, it's a problem with your version of Shadow President - a setting that is wrong, or it's set to joystick instead of mouse, etc.
