I had simular problems as some of you here. This is how I got around it.

Extracted the files to directory X.

Ran the setup program mentioned above. creating a new directory where you want it. I then took all the files from the directory X and moved them into the new directory.

Seems to work perfect now.

a) There's no cutscenes in this rip

b) this is an ancient Windows game - Windows as in Windows 3.1. Wing was an early multimedia program akin to Quicktime - it made fast moving graphics possible in Windows 3.1 but later got eclipsed by DirectX. Of course, this stuff barely works in modern Windows versions like Vista.

Personally, I'd just install Windows 3.1 in DOSBOX and run it from there.

Shouldn't be difficult. Just get a copy of said Windows version first and read the DOSBox readme.

I figured it out, can play it without dosbox on 32 bit vista and on a 1280x800 although as a small window within a full screen window.

Lower your desktop screen res first. -(IF possible on your hardware)-
Or run it in dosbox/W3.x full screen.
Or VPC/W3.x.

IMHO, the game cannot be run in a windowed mode. To run this game full-screen(as in taking all of your screen area, not just a little square at the top left corner), you need to first manually change your screen resolution to 640x480 from Windows Display properties. Here's how to do it:

1. Right-click on your desktop.
2. select "Properties..." from the menu that opens.
3. Change to the "Settings" tab.
4. Slide the resolution slider to "640x480"

If your slider doesn't go way back to the resolution needed:
1. Click the "Advanced..." button under the color selector.
2. Change to the "Adaptor" tab.
3. Click the "Show all display modes..." button.
4. A dialog box appears with various screen resolutions, scroll all the way up on the scrollbar.
5. Select "640x480, 256 colors...", click OK.
6. Click "Apply"

Your screen resolution should now change to the optimal resolution for the game. just click "Yes" on the dialog box to keep the settings. Now launch the game and play and it shoud play full-screen. By the way, if you reset the resolution and color depth of your display back to your original settings, you will have to change back to "640x480" every time you wish to play the game full-screen again.

Happy gaming.
