Default Please help with Star Trek Judgment Rites!

I love this game from my childhood and was so happy to find it on here. I downloaded the game as well as Boxer and have been able to play the game on my Mac OSX 10.9. However, it does not run smoothly at all especially when there are conversations, music, and multiple sound effects occurring at the same time. I have been trying to find solutions but have not found any clear answers. I know the version of Boxer I downloaded is only noted as compatible up through OSX 10.8 but I did not see a newer version and I read online that it should work fine with 10.9 as well so I don't know if that is the issue. Someone please help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I have no idea what is "Boxer", but if it's DOSBox, by chance, you need to crank up cycles. If it's similar to Windows version, it not set your cycles to proper maximum by default. Use config file to change it.

By default, DOSBox uses cycles=auto. This can result in sub-par performance if the maximum cycle value your system can handle is overestimated by the emulator (which is sometimes the case).
You should set it to a fixed value - somewhere around 15000 cycles is a good starting point, remember to change the up/down amounts to around 500 cycles too - and then fine tune from there until you get satisfactory performance.
