I know this isn't a game that's that old - It runs on the computer that I had before the one I had before the one I have now... So 1995?

I've been playing it since the demo came out (It's one of my favourite games and, like Uplink: Hacker, it's under-rated I reckon).
I think it's one of the best sniper games ever - probably the best FPS too. On any console or platform.

I suppose you have to play it to realise it's awesomeness - I've got a few spare copies if you want them, maybe I can post it to a Post Office for collection or something?
First, the demo is downloadable and gives a good impression of the very basics of the game. There's a lot more stuff you can do if you figure it out - I think there are tutorial messages in the demo. Can't remember.

I run a clan for the game which used to have 14 members, as you need 4 for each of the 2 teams and some people can't get there. Plus we have more than one server, so there's plenty of room.
I didn't pay the domain registration for our old homepage and it got taken away, so I'm using googlegroups for the time being as it's free and does the same sort of thing.

Now we only have three active members, me and someone else, and one probationary member. Though I think that probationary is a stupid idea and we shouldn't have it. People are members or they're not.
One has decided that they just don't play Sniper Elite anymore because they prefer FPS on Xbox!!!

We specialise in stealth and we use a mod that gives the option of using knives - if a sniper lets you sneak up on them, they're gonna get a point-blank head-shot or gutted for being a wet fish.
Another trademark of ours is shooting grenades on people's belts - you don't get points for a kill doing this, bit of a game bug as you can take out loads of people if they're all covering each other in the same place.

Snipers work together, but alone. It improves the game to have even two people working as a team.
Setting traps and luring the enemy into them again and again, then laying another one to catch them when they change tact, thinking "This time I'll be sneaky and get them" is great fun!

We used to be TLR - The London Regiment, after the local rifle corps where most of us are from. We changed the name because we had several Polish and other European people join - even one Canadian. That was annoying, he was really good but was never online when we were.

I thought that, since lots of people here play FPS and play as snipers, that I'd ask to see if anyone plays Sniper Elite and wants to join a clan and play as a team.
It used to be great fun and we'd welcome anyone who's interested.

As I said, you can download the demo and I've a few original copies (they're £5 now, I think) of this amazing game. Though, like all good things, it should be shared. I've got originals because the Starfire protection is a b1tch and it's always better to have an original code-key, rather than generating one.
I'd happily give them away to anyone who wants to start playing or wants more of the demo!

Maybe it's just me who thinks it's the best FPS around atm, but there's no better sniper game.
This one is as realistic as I've seen, if nothing like really shooting - but that's what games are for!

And I love the bullet cam - 3 for ones, through the nuts! Laying explosives and shooting to detonate, taking out whole convoys. Time bombs to distract people and mask the sound of your gunfire...
There're loads of real tactics you can use to survive with just a rifle and a few bullets, taking out a whole platoon as you go.
(Shooting people in the nuts isn't in the official handbook, though...)

I'd call it a thirdperson shooter, as that's the main perspective.

Well it's the best multi-perspective 3PS / FPS then ya goawd-dang finkle-picker.

If you're playing the game properly, you should be spending more time in FPS mode than running around like a headless chicken.

Perhaps that's the main reason why people don't like to play it...

I think this game is awesome i used to have it original but i'm "getting" a copy tonight !
