Rather than my usual technique of sifting through crap for a nugget of gold, I'd like to be recommended a strategy.
I'm between games, and the boredom is strong.
The strategy should have a decent amount going on, provide a decent challenge without resorting to having a stupid interface (I hate when they do that) and be decent.
Thanks in advance, y'all

Yes, Starcraft is great, but my favourite is the old Dune 2 (if you like old games you should give a try), well Dune 2000 is a good remake.
Take a look on Westwood games, I like them all.

They're all done and dusted, unfortunately.
More than once in most cases. >_>
Dune 2 was my very first strategy

Anything you'd heartily recommend on the site?
Just got the old romance of the three kingdoms, and i'm in the mood for something a bit faster paced.

Did you try XCom: Enemy Unknown?
It's not pure strategy, but it's one of the best game I ever played.

What about Ascendancy, Colonization, the first Warcraft, or the classic Settlers?

Ha.
You've got good taste, David
Been through every one of those.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of playing dune 2 again.
Not to say I wouldn't love a new game, of course.

Hate shooting down great suggestions... damn my eyes for having to compare everything new to these classics you've mentioned!

X-Com Apocalypse?
Incubation?
Creascent Hawks Revenge? (ok, the controls may be a little odd before you get used to them...)

mhhh...let me think...I think I've finished my best old titles LOL

What about "Total war" games like Shogun, Rome or Medieval?
They're revolutionary but very hard to play.

I'm sure you did try Age of Empire series, well the second was really well done, but I didn't like the third too much.
A similar game is Age Of Mithology, himo was original and really funny.

Well, if you played them all I think you should wait Starcraft 2 like me

That'll be nice

Think I'll give that battle-mech game a try.
Fingers crossed, eh?
