well, both things suck imho they brought no good. especially for the other countries. as all the idiots here are going abroad and make me look bad
and my grandad was devastated...nooo vodka? ha ha! right!
or that stupid thing....that the pig can't be stunned with an axe or a big piece of wood(after you make it drunk with bread moistured in vodka), you now have to give him an anesthesic. LOL.
during the communism was pretty bad..cause people would tell on you and you would get to work in prisons... or get to be an informer

Over here people are very proud if they have their grapevines, so they can have their own wine (even if only small amounts - 80-500 liters). But it's a status symbol, to be able to offer somebody your very own vine. Otherwise mostly people who live in apartments (but moved into them from houses) want to have some garden or something and they plant letuce, tomatoes, beans... It's for their own use, not for selling it, but they would probably be quite lost without it.

For potatoes they may only try with early sorts of potatoes (those you plant in late autumn and are ready in mid-spring). Otherwise only those who have enough land to then go and sell potatoes at the market are growing them.

Don't know about vodka. Only "samogon". :-)

It is made from "brazhka" - yeast, sugar and something. Don't know much about that. My grandmother do. :-)
