In that case you might want to give Beneath a Steel Sky a try even though it's an adventure. The review isn't too good in my opinion, but the game has a very nice sci-fi sort of atmosphere and a good story, and the characters are very well-drawn.

With regards to the games, I must second Raffles suggestion about Beneath A Steel Sky - lovely game! Another good (adventure) game is Flight Of The Amazon Queen. Funny story, and well drawn characters.

Paper Mario 1 and 2, Mario and Luigi, Secret of Mana, Seiken Sensetsu 3 if you know japanese, thats as far as marketed games, here I recommend, Final Fantasy Endless Nova, any Ultima game, and uhm, can't think of anything else but I haven't, ooh, try wasteland. :P

There are plenty of good (and horrible) snes rom sites out there.

Is everyone this friendly?

A lot of us are friendly, but human. Because you never know what is happening on their end, you can never be too sure if they will always be nice to you.
