interestingly, the arcade version doesnt have the bad translation of the megadrive/genesis version

Thus rendering the arcade version entirely pointless.
I mean, Zero Wing was a decent game, but compared to the likes of Gradius, Parodius and R-Type, it was fairly average. The brilliant translation was the only thing that made it worth noticing. If it wasn't for the dodgy Engrish, ZW would have sunk without trace shortly after its release. |

I have seen a Zero Wing ROM provided on a "Classic Game Review Site". But anyway, it's not appropriate for this site in any way, though if you want to find it, it's not difficult.
