We don't have a pro uber broadband connection. We download a lot at once. The computers then slow eachother down. Causing a pain for everyone.

Probably, but if I'm downloading from a P2P/Torrent program and downloading from a browser at the same time. That causes problems doesn't it?

Does not matter. What the router caps is the incoming and outcoming data traffic.

And, depending on the options of your browser, you might be able to cap certain ports (e.g. http only).

Actually, if you're interested in making such client-wide limitation the router is really your *only* option. A Firefox extension would only limit the speed of browser downloads and nothing else. However, most cheap SOHO routers don't ship with firmware capable of configurable traffic shaping. That said, I'll bet there are alternative firmwares out there which do.

Ack! No. Because P2P/Torrent Programs let you set how fast the Dl speed is. Therefore the only problem is Firefox
