Do you think so? Why? This game is longer, the graphics are better, you can go to more different places and the music is great. Although I liked Monkey Island a lot (it was one of the first games I played), I've probably played Monkey Island 2 a great deal more often.
For me the jokes in Monkey Island 1 where better. :bye:

PS: More legendary scenes in Money Island 1 than in Monkey Island 2.

You're right, those were all great moments (my personal favourite was Guybrush's Sierra death ), but Monkey Island 2 has great scenes as well. I'm too lazy to search the web for screenshots now, but (in no particular order) what about the tongue-twisters? The rat in the vichyssoise? The spitting contest? The monkey-wrench? Guybrush at the fancy dress party? The "She named the dog Guybrush??" scene? The dancing skeletons? The envelopes in three different colours: manila, vanilla and gorilla? The visit to the street from Monkey Island 1? Stan selling the coffins? The books in the library catalogue?
Those may not be legendary, perhaps, but they're definitely memorable.

Yeah both games have their memorable scenes, the dancing skletons was definitely one of my favourites.

Anyone that hasn't heard of MI deserves to be shot through the heart... twice.

I had a question regarding MI2. MI1 (CD version) has awesome CD quality music. Was MI2 ever released in the same manner, or is midi music all it ever had? If they ever rereleased an enhanced version of MI2, I'd love to get my hands on it. Thanks!

Sorry, no. There is a LucasArts package that the games are on a CD. MI2 is included. I don't know whether the music is different. ebay for it. Or look on The International House Of Mojo for more info. I don't think there was a CD version of MI2 released on it's own.

Thanks Bobbin, they have all the versions listed on the 'house of mojo' site. The music is the same for all versions of MI2. Too bad they never enhanced it, it would have been great

(My two cents worth) MI1 is definitely my favorite (but it was the very first RPG I ever played on a PC, so it holds a special value for me, hence the bias ) Never played MI3 or 4, and I don't want to either :P

"The Secret of Monkey Island" an RPG? MI1 is my favourite ADVENTURE game!

I played even MI3 and MI4 and even if they aren't as good as the previous two, however they are very good, with quite the same humour and atmosphere!
Play them and you'll enjoy! k:
