TA is probably the best traditional rts ever, still play it online all the time and its a great laugh.
No game can match it for me, nothing quite as satisfying as seeing that commander go boom after a 4-5 hour war involving land, sea and air. |

oh yes. suicidally d-gunning the enmy commander in the middle of his base is always a good laugh too
works even better if it doesn't mean you've lost (well, on a small enough map that he can get there in time to be useful, anyway) |

Don't think so, its hard to get hold of though.
Almost impossible to get the expansions now, i got them from amazon used section but not many go up for sale now. Other way is to go into a really old shop and hope its in there |

Actually TA WAS in 3d originally, Line of sight, shots etc were all modeled around the 3d environments.
The only reason you say "Pseudo-3d" is because the camera was rather immobile. |

Hehey my favourite trick was always to send literally about 30 transports to fly over to the enemy base and pick up their commander. Or even better, pick up my ally's commander (in Skirmish, not online) due to him not fighting back and then put them over the enemy base so it creates a nuclear explosion.
The old tricks are the best ones. |

The terrain was a 2D map treated as if it was 3D, which was possible because the camera was fixed, whereas this is a full-3D version. There's also a mod trying to recreate the game in the UT2004 engine, although that seems like making more work for themselves to me.
My favourite trick is to pick up enemy construction units with a transport, then fly them back to your base for the commander to capture, giving you access to all their units if they're the opposite side to you. Dead useful is skirmish/multiplayer. |

Mmm true but hard to do, especially if they do what I do and basically fill every square inch of my base with Flak Turrets (I have a designated line of AS defences, 4 Big Berthas + a lot of those normal cannon turrets )
