Apparently our version of Darklands is missing a file from the "Pics" folder.
While playing Darklands, the game crashed and a Dos prompt said it cannot find "Pics\xhound.pic:". I looked into the Pics Folder, and sure enough there is no "xhound.pic" file. I'm guessing this omission is from the source and wasn't lost some other way.

Anyways, I'd like to continue playing the game and have sent several requests to other discussion groups, so if no one else can come up with a solution/fix, I'll upload the file if I can find it... if requested.
