The only person I know is real is me!
I could be imagining everyone else!
Do you know that for sure?
How do you know you're real? Beause your eyes, your ears, your nose and your nerves tell you? And you brain just works on this information? But what if anything you feel isn't real at all? [/b][/quote]
and here we go....

to know whats real first you have to define whats real...
Real is a very subjective thingie...

Exactly! And why do you think that our life is real? What sense is there? Just in being born and dying? Is there perhaps something outside of our understanding that has some more sense?

There was a long and deep article on the website of Der Spiegel.
Basically the author claimed we lived in some kind of videogame or matrix controlled by a higher power.
The author stops short of calling this higher, all-compassing, brilliant power "God" (these days its unfashionable for scientists to believe in something as old fashioned as God)

Ok heres one for you...

If god is all powerful - and it is said that if you were not all powerful you would not be a god - he/she is able to destroy him/herself. With all things infinite in possibilities it IS possible that he/she has long destroyed him/herself. Therefore god doesn't HAVE to exist.

Good bit of god discussion

The Chuck

OK - here we go!
Birth - don't know about you, but I don't remember choosing to be born.
Death - as far as I know I can only try and influence the date it happens (can kill my self now - or try to hang on two more weeks after doctors pull the plug on me). Either case - I die.
Live - a period of time between birth and death!

The meaning of a short period of time between life and death:
1) All creatures reproduce. The higher the species has evolved - the more complex the proces of reprodution. Mammals need to have sex. In order for them to whish to have it, they have orgasms. Offspring is just a side product of lust. So the reproduction is a byproduct of fulfilling your lust. Yet with contraception...
2) The will to stay alive. We can't really talk about that one, because we don't know how other animals feel on this topic. So there's no comparison of a human - to another life form. Still,... People have sacreficed their lives (so greater goals than this one exists), people have killed themselves for no aperante reason, and people try to stay aliv (either the fear of death or fear of physical pain - in commitng suricede and failing). So this could be 'programmed', but it has a flaw.
3) Satisfying the body - lust was covered above. Other such needs are hunger (we don't eat because we're hungry - but because hunger is a sensation we don't like). Still people go on hunger strikes,....
Thus far - we have a way of trying to at least cheat on natural 'programmes' if not break free from them. Is that the meaning?
Could be, because many said it was to control your own self. controling our natural needs could be a step in the right direction. But what's the point in that?
Is our only purpose in life to brake away from nature?
Is that the final stage of revolution?
4) So if there is a meaning we either can't see it (hideen, beyond our cognitve capabilitys, we haven't evolved yet to see it,...) or simply isn't there. Either case, the show must go on...
Maybe we're the onse who will become gods... Maybe our next step in evolution is - a cherubim - next an archangel - next god (I only use the chritian motives because of the lack of other words - could aply to equivalent creatures in any religious mithology). If that's the case then we're just a peice of a giant jig-saw and must only complete the full picture - which no-one knows how it should look like.
BTW - I suggest you read "The End of Childhood" by Arthur Charles Clarke. It presents a rather interesting point on this topic - and if nothing else it's a good book worth reading.

the question is "what is the answer to the meaning of life, the universe and everything else?" and it took 1.5 million years for deep thought to find out (i think). i know my comedy (hitchhikers guide to the galaxy - douglas adams)

But the question was not correctly given - that's why they built this damn planet in the first place - We still need the question!!!

What do you get when you multiply 6 by 8?
I always knew there was something fundamentaly wrong with the universe.
