I have 2 cds with fallout 1 (original one, and the one that came on 15th aniversery of interplay) and both of them work just fine on XP without any fixes or compatibility modes.

Maybe, but that also depends on specific XP. I know of other games that work on one XP and don't on another one.

if it runs on 2k and NT it should work on XP.. XP is on an NT base, which is bloody annoying when I have a game that wont install saying 'non-NT compatible' thinking XP is NT (I know it sounds similar, but really!)
