Did any of you ever wonder why certain games are ONLY released on a certain system and automatically rule out the possibility of mass purchase?
For example, Halo 2 - Xbox only Mortal Kombat - Deadly Alliance - Xbox and PS2 only Marvel VS capcom 2 - PS2 only Etc. It annoys me to death that some of the really good games are only released on consoles, rather than PC. I think they are missing out on some serious profit by doing so... But then again, why? Why would a company decide not to release a game on multiple platforms? Stupidity? Marketing strategy? Who knows... All i know that every console game that has been released so far would run far better on PC's, graphical and gameplay wise. I would really like your opinion on this matter... |

I don't think this applies to Halo 2, what with it being an fps and so on, but I don't think Mortal Kombat would be very good on PC. I personally couldn't see myself playing a beat 'em up on PC, except on an emulator. I don't think it would work very well, especially given that MK has always been a console game. Same goes for Marvel vs Capcom (which sucks anyway, try SNK vs Capcom Chaos).

maybe cause of piracy? seriously, everybody who s "interested" and doesnt want to buy the game owns the game few days before release. so they are not missing out on profit, more like other way. and they might also have contracts with console..systems..whatever, like, when game is popular and somebody realy wants to play it, they r forced to buy the console. (i d personaly love to have ps2 and kick some friends <insert specific organ here> in tekken 4).

It tends to only apply to launch and "flagship" games. The hope is that if a game is only playable on a certain console, people will flock to buy that console. The developers get paid off by the console's manufacturers to make it exclusive to their platform.

to be honest the whole "checkpoint" part in Halo 1 was quite annoying and also all the copy paste levels. it started off good, but the game lacks so much that usually this kind of games provide(d) on PC. it's like you can see the whole game (especially towards the end) that it was made for console.
too bad.... the story is good and it starts off well, but then... they copy paste the leves --> lame and also there is no coop in pc version ogf HALO 1 (which is big drawback epsecially with all those vehicles that could be used by 3 persons min). so i played it through was happy when it was finnally over and it went straight off my disk. i dloaded the music though cause i think it was nice.

but that "exclusivity" is often quickly forgotten when such game becomes really popular and a best-seller. halo 2, as mentioned earlier, was meant to be only for x-box, and here it is, ported to computers in some time. resident evil: code veronica and resident evil 4 are such examples too, one originally intended only for the dreamcast and the other one for gamecube; both ended up on ps2 as well.
surely there are other games where this applies, but none come to my mind now. just wanted to say that this "exclusive release" thing is more often than not not definitive when it comes to profits |

I know that certain consoles are being emulated as we speak... Although this does not apply to all consoles, it is a way to circumvent the laws of platform®
But then again, it's just emulating... it's like... not real (just as dosbox isn't really dos ) Anyway, i still think it's a shame they don't release on all platforms. |

The only X-Box game I would love to see on PC is Dead Rising. The whole game sounds like a dream!
