Okay, that sounded a bit too harsh, but my point is:
You don't really need the living people for best-of-albums
or albums with unfinished, unedited and unpublished material.

BTW isn't Michael Jackson the one who owns rights for most of their songs?

I believe he currently owns 50% of the rights (along with a number of Elvis songs and some other things) and is planning on selling them to Sony to stave off bankruptcy, giving Sony a 75% ownership of the rights.
