Some more freeware games. I've only tried Freedroid and Wesnoth. I like em both. Freedroid is an orgie in nostalgia from my C64 (and Amiga) days. The other games seem ok, but I haven't tried them so I can't say. Also the two last ones are either only for the Unix based platforms or not finished (playable?).
Freedroid (remake of Paradroid) http://freedroid.sourceforge.net/ Marathon (freeware release) http://source.bungie.org/ SCOURGE http://scourge.sourceforge.net/ Advanced Strategic Command http://www.asc-hq.org/ Tower Toppler http://toppler.sourceforge.net/ Battle for Wesnoth http://www.wesnoth.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------- Wormux (Linux clone of Worms) http://www.wormux.org/en/ U.F.O. - Alien Invasion (not complete, but seems promising) http://www.ufoai.net/ |

The Marathon games are quite good, if you like games like Strife and Deus Ex. The ones on the forementioned site are easy to make work, and the multiplayer is fun.
Wouldn't it be sensible to keep these freeware recommendations in just one thread, though? EDIT: And at the 'Favourite Oldies and Newbies' forum.

Oh ok, they are meant as requests to be "uploaded" to the site so everyone will know of them. But sure in the future I'll post there instead. Just one question, Am I contributing with anything new or are these games common knowledge by now?

Freeware game recommendations are always nice and welcome, in my opinion. There aren't many of them on the main site as it's pretty strictly for abandoned titles only, but here on the forum they are at a right place. EDIT: I'll leave it to you to start a thread for freeware games, but I'll have a few to add to it.

Not long ago,I brought the amiga version of paradroid to run on my system. A good way to keep rememberance always with you k:
However, when I looked the amiga version up I eventually found freearadroid, too. But because I liked the improved graphics of the amiga I didnt try this one, yet. Think this one will rock as well... real great classic... |

You can change the graphics in some menu after you start the game. I don't remember where though.

Well, checked this out. But it seems that there aren´t any amiga graphics from paradroid90. May be that there is another amiga version around. In this freedroid version you can switch between two graphic modes: c64 artwork and some other modern style.
