Try Compatibility Modes first. Then go to VDMSound and then to DosBox.

VDMSound and DosBox are linked to from Abandonia's main page. I suggest you have a look into these two programs.

What are your system specs? Have you been messing with the config files?

OK, so have you tried VDMSound now? Did it work?

K. Seems like it's time to do it.

Given that you are running a Celeron-D, you should be easily able to crank up the cycles to 20 000 (40 000 with Core set to Dynamic), maybe even faster
The more cycles DosBox is running at, the faster the emulation.
Obviously, the maximum cycle count is limited by the CPU speed of your machine.

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.p...age=dosbox.conf

Set the following values in dosbox.conf:
fullscreen=true
DosBox will start in fullscreen. This usually gives it a bit higher efficiency.

output=overlay
OR
output=ddraw
The first will be better then the default output=surface, the second will provide slight blur of the surface and use Direct Draw.

core=dynamic
NOTE: if you experience any issues or crashes, change it back to core=normal.
cycles=20000
cycleup=1000
cycledown=1000
These settings will make DosBox start with 20 thousand cycles per default. Increasing/decreasing cycles by CTRL+F11/CTRL+F12 will change the value by 1000 cycles. If the game will start right with Core=Dynamic, manually up the cycles to 40000, though you might try 45000 or even 50000.

sbtype=sbpro2
This won't change much, but more games support Sound Blaster Pro 2 then Sound Blaster 16.

Make sure you configure the game's sound setup to use Sound Blaster Pro 2 (or normal Pro if there is no option for Pro 2), IRQ 7, DMA 1, 220 h.

That's about it. Give it a go and tell us what were the results.

Change core=dynamic to core=normal. Does the game still crash?
