Hello folks,

I have just tried out the game using dosbox 0.65. It works without any flaws.

Works for me, too!

Additionally, I used the D-Fend v3 BETA frontend which works with DosBOX >= v0.62
I went right through the build in setup wizard and got the game up and running in a minute. Only manual thing to do was to set the "umb=true" - all other settings were the setup wizards standard.

This is the content of my D-Fend profile file "Nectaris.prof":

Here are the level codes for the later levels:

34 PROFIL 35 DESERT
36 BERTAH 37 REPAIR
38 DISPUT 39 MASERN
40 TACTIC 41 FLOWER
42 KILLER 43 INSIDE
44 MANAGE 45 POWERS
46 MIXTUR 47 ARAGON
48 POLICE 49 ESCULA
50 TRICKY 51 CHANEL
52 ROCKIN 53 CAESAR
54 COLORS 55 JUMPER
56 TRAVEL 57 SOURCE
58 GROUND 59 ROBOTS
60 SYSTEM 61 FOLDER
62 DEFEND 63 RIVERS
64 DROPIN

65 SLOWER 66 LAGUNE
67 MINIMO 68 MONSUM
69 LIGHTS 70 MANIAC
71 ACCEPT 72 THANKS
73 FIGHTS 74 TRAPEZ
75 DESERT 76 MORTAL
77 TROLLS 78 CHEESE
79 SEARCH 80 INVADE
81 WIZARD 82 NOHELP
83 EXODUS 84 PENCIL
85 STREET 86 OUTPUT
87 EMPIRE 88 VIRGIN
89 BOMBER 90 ISLAND
91 PLANET 92 SIMULA
93 FINGER 94 SLAYER
95 AIRPOT 96 SEAMAP

PS: It's possible to get through the game without saving and reloading in mid-level to force the random battle results to be lucky. I've done it.

When looking at the fanpages there are 98 levels mentioned, but I played through the game and played only 96 until the end sequence appeared. The level codes mentioned there, "MAXIMA" and "EUROPE" don't work, seems to be something like a hoax. Can anyone confirm this ?

Level codes for these may have been changed? Or maybe they aren't in this version of the game? Or maybe they are some sort of "secret" levels you have to beat the game to unlock?

No, no and no, I've already thought of those things.
Like I wrote, I've already beaten the game. After level 96 you get back to level 1.
You can download the game from one of those fansites and that version doesn't behave different.
So I really think it's some kind of joke unless someone else proves me wrong.

U guys have no idea how long I've waited for this game. I used to play this back in the 90s, I almost considered buying TG16 just for this one game. The PC version is great, but I think the color on TG was less vibrant and less cartoonish.

I got this download to run on my DOSbox 0.65 without issue, but it said there's no sound detected. I'm not sure how this could be fixed. The same DOXbox setup works on Master of Magic without any problem and with sound.

It's a great game.......even without sound if I had to endure it.

Is there a setup program of some kind in the game directory? Run it and configure it to use Sound Blaster 16, IRQ 7, DMA 1, Adress 220h.

Am I playing the right team? I find the scenarios way too biased in my favor. BI had the human player at odds against cpu's superior force, which made it challenging, this is far too easy. Also the computer player is much dumber, sometimes she forgets to attack even though my unit can't shoot back.

The early levels are quite easy, but the game will get more challenging soon. BI and its expansions aren't nearly as difficult.
I consider the AI in the first 32 levels (the original game) about as good in BI, newer and better AI scripts are used at higher levels.

I think the writer's opinion "bring it to the point or describe it correctly" (or how to say it in english).

AI and balance = 0 Points. That means, this is no game for expert strategists.
I did test it again and the game is to much luck based. It is a huge difference after a attack, if only 7 units left or 3 units left.
The AI has often only too many units and is programmed with no tactic.
Moving the only-Air-Artillery (cant shoot after moving) to reach my air units in front of a massive tanks.
AI moves air units and ground units to my long range units.
AI fights near my depot, thats allow me to instant repair, deploy and attack the enemy units.
AI tries to capture the depot and i need only one hit to destroy it.
AI captures a depot and i have an unit to re-capture it + one unit from the enemy for free.
The transport units can only transport one unit.
