Well since you said yourself that it was the first of the series it is Gabriel Knight 1. But the exact title i don't know. I just played Gabriel Knight III, and hated it to boot. But i know it's supposed to be a good series, that's how i guessed it was probably that. So if you want the full title i can't give it to you. If it is indeed "the beast within" then you should decide who wins between me and efthimios. Hard choice i know !

The Beast Within was Gabriel Knight II. The first one was Sins of the Fathers, and you people profess to love old games, tsk tsk tsk.

Love and knowledge are different things, there are many games i love because i don't know them that well. Like racing games who become quite boring after a while. The only old games i really know are strategy and RPG. I'm not too keen on adventurers.

I didn't like the games awhole lot either, the pacing was just wrong.
Like in the second game, questions keep popping up and the plot thickens and thickens, and instead of the character slowly unraveling the mystery (or getting some hints along the way) the game simply gives you the answers in a letter and a dream at the end of disc 4 or 5 (there are 6 discs) and it happened in both gabriel knight II and III that I suddenly realized I had uncovered the plot (well, that the game had uncovered it) It's difficult to explain but the pacing and plots were kind of... wrong. Anyway, enough off topicness.
