Default Elder Scroll: Daggerfall

I can't attack anything in this game, everything else works fine, but "swing weapon" doesn't work at all. Any fix for this problem?

To swing you keep the (right, IIRC) mouse button pressed and move it. Sideways attacks are easiest to perform and well balanced. Up-down attacks (chop) are most powerful but have a lower hit chance. Down-up (thrust) have highest hit chance but are weakest. In practice both are difficult to do with the mouse, left-right-left or oblique is easiest.

Well that was new to me. Thanks for help, mate. Though it is hard to aim enemies, needs some work in that .

You don't have to aim a lot, any enemy more or less in sight within range can be hit. If you're not hitting every time you swing that's normal depending on your attack rating and the enemy's defense.

There are also some enemies immune to normal weapons. For example in the first dungeon there's an imp (small flying demon that casts magic at you) that can be hit only with steel or better metal.

Remember that you can set up the game to use the modern-day WASD keyboard controls, and enable proper mouselook in the settings:
Quote:
Press ESC and go to Controls to view the various commands and the keys they are
mapped to.

You can also feel free to customize the controls to your liking. You are
welcome to stick with the defaults, of course; however, many people never
realize that the game supports mouse freelook, such that the game plays out
very similarly to any other first person game. This makes it MUCH easier to
look around and control the game.

[!] To activate mouse freelook, press ESC and go to Controls. There, along the
bottom you will see a button for Mouse, click it. Now, just switch the mouse
from Cursor to View.

If you set the mouse to freelook, there are two other keys you need to make
note of in the controls screen. They are:
* Activate Center Object: by pressing this key, you "click" on whatever you
are pointed at. This is used to talk to people, pull levers, loot treasure
piles and bodies, etc. Pretty much everything.
* Toggle Cursor: This will allow you to switch the mouse to a cursor in order
to make clicking on small items easier. [source]

Yes, mouse freelook is an absolute must.

Done already: WASD and mouse look. Any ideas where to find any villages/towns, if there is any?

Read all the text about quests that has appeared so far. Right-click on the map icon to initiate fast travel and choose any town.

I was about to delete my last post, but thanks for a tip, I found it today on my own accidentally after walking north-east and east for days.
