Two mounths ago, i've started my personal war :Titan: agaist all the virus, trojan, pest and spy-add-mal-ware that were infesting my little-lovely-PC...

It's really an hard task!

I read somewhere that the 90% win-PC are infected by the DSO-exploit spyware!! And the mine had it, too.
Try to scan your PC with anti-spyware like "Spybot-Search & Destroy" and many of you will have some surprises! :bleh:

So, this is what i want to ask you: what do you do to navigate safe in Internet?

At the moment i'm using the zone-alarm firewall, the AVG antivirust, Hijack This, RegScrub, spyware blaster, Spybot-Search & Destroy... but i dont feel safe yet...

After many reflections i think that there are only two way to be totally safe from viruses: dont use Internet (but this can't be your choice...) or to navigate exclusively from The PC of your best friend!! k:

To be honest I don't bother about it.
I've got Kaspesky AV, System Mechanic 5, and spybot S&D... No FireWall.
But i keep all of my stuff backed up, and I've made myself a quick install DVD, so if ever anything goes badly wrong I just re-install my Windows partition in about 5 minutes.
All of my games / downloads etc.. are kept on a seperate partition.
I find it's the best compromise between speed and safety.

Well let's see here ...

F-Prot Antivirus ... checked!
Spybot S&D ... checked!
Lavasoft Ad-Aware ... checked!
HiJackThis! ... checked!

that's all I guess. I'm running on WindowsXP Pro. Service Pack 1, I will never ever let SP2 touch my harddrive - SP1 runs really great. No firewall at all, since the router does the most work really good after configurating it manually. W-LAN is also nice via notebook ... ^^

You want to be safe on the internet, scarping internet explorer is one thing to do and either go with firefox or opera, also stay away from warez sites and porn sites,

Have a firewall, good anti virus, you can pick up a choice of 3 free good ones, like AVG 7, Anti Vir, or Avast, programs to remove spyware like spybot search and destroy, Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor,

Also programs like Spywareblaster or IE-SPYADS to help protect you from sites and or active X programs that spyware infilitrates your computer.

Turn it off.

Not quite sure that's the answer you wanted, but that's the truth so...

I'm seriously thinking of getting arachne(dos browser), and surfing the net with it.It should make 90% of the spy-ware, trojans, viruses, and so on, useless, as i only run dos

You just have to be careful when on the net, honestly go to some of the security forums like spywareinfo, wilders security, dsl reports, castlecops, and they've got articles on how to make your browsing experience as safe as you can.

Finally i've found an interesting article that i've downloaded some weeks ago, just about how much the web is dangerous.

Take a bit of it:

"StillSecure attached six computers - loaded with different versions of the Windows, Linux and Apple's Macintosh operating systems - earlier this month to the Internet without anti-virus software.
The results show the Internet is a very rough place.
Over the course of a week, the machines were scanned a total of 46,255 times by computers around the world that crawl the Web looking for vulnerabilities in operating systems.
Once the vulnerabilities were identified, the remote computers launched 4,892 direct attacks with a staggering variety of worms, Trojan Horses, viruses, spyware and other forms of malware.
The test examined only what happens when computers are turned on and connected to the Internet. The test didn't evaluate additional dangers that computer users face when they use e-mail, surf the Web, click on Internet links or use file-sharing programs."

It sounds almost terrifying, don't it?

is why i never ever go on line with a system without instsalling tiny personall firewall first. when i first installed it i was absalutly amazed by not only the amount of externall stuff trying to get in that didnt need to but also by all the extra connections my comp was trying to make that wernt needed. deny almost all of it i do (sorry for the yodeese) its kinda annoying, even command trys to connect along with the ting i have forgotten the name for (dam vodka) that governs your keyboard and mouse's interactioons with the os. i deny it an i get no problems, so why is it trying to connect?
