Default Earthsiege 2 Install via Windows 3.1 in DOSBox - Share.exe is requisted

Hello guys,

well yesterday I found my "Back to Games" Copy of Earthsiege 2 and I got problems with it. First I tried to install it normal with my Hostsystem Windows Xp, but the Sierra windows doesn't appear. After that I tried it in DOSBox without Windows 3.1 in it and it said "Microsoft Windows is requisted for this.". Then I started Windows 3.1 and wanted to install it. All things in the Test are positive so the game should not make problems, and when I wanted to start the Install the game I got the message: "File-sharing must be enabled. Before start Windows, start SHARE.exe [...]". Then I searched for the file and didn't found it, I copied SHARE.exe from Freedos and wanted to start it again, same result...

What thing do I wrong? Anyone got this problem too?
Please help me!

Odd. At least some versions of ES2 install and run on XP without any problem.

that would be fine if it works for me too, but in the Systemprocesses it says that the Sierra Installer is open and on the Tasklist I see it too, but when I click on it nothing happens....

Did you try to right-click on the game icon in Windows XP and in the compatibility tab under Properties to set it to Windows 95 or Windows 98? Many older Windows games work in Windows XP with compatibility mode enabled when they didn't before.

no never tried it, I thought it would effect nothing...

thanks for your tip

EDIT: Tried it right now and I still have the same problem.... I think that it's not the CD Version, it's a re-release of the game with the same files....
