I wasn't impressed by the demo, but according to the people at the Myst Community the full game is a lot better.

Riven is probably one of the most well developed games I've ever played. It's a little short though. Don't use a walkthrough, it's too short to be spoiled ;-)
In fact there's no reason to use a walkthrogh, there are no "MENSA puzzles" in it (like in Schizm), if you just pay attention to details, all puzzles are solveable.
